US Made Clothing
When shopping for most anything in the United States nowadays one finds that most everything is made and shipped out of country. This is particularly prevalent in the clothing industry as can be seen by how little US made clothing there actually is, nowadays. There is nothing inherently wrong with that but in doing so most businesses are fueling illegal and illicit practices as well as taking jobs away from American workers that could use them. Looking past the idea of lost jobs there is something even darker at work in the industry of imported clothing. The sweat shop worker.
The reason businesses choose to go out of country to get their clothing made is because not all countries have such rigorous standards for employee safety and the idea of a living wage. Many companies in the clothing business like to set down operations in countries like China where they can pay their employees pennies on the dollar and hire children to do the dull, repetitious, and often painful tasks nobody in the US would be willing to do. Fortunately not all companies endorse these practices. In fact one company is proud of their US made clothing. They are USABAYSIDE.
USABAYSIDE is a clothing company that practices what it preaches. They are a completely organic company based in the states that focuses on their US made clothing. Their business actively condemns the use of sweat shops in other countries and lives their message by running all of their business through the Teamsters, which is a union that ensures fair practice with and towards all employees. On top of providing jobs for many Americans they also are eco friendly in the way they pursue organic options at every single turn. There is no waste here and everything is for the people.
It is easy to espouse the greatness of US made clothing but it all falls apart if the product quality is not consistent. Fortunately for consumers, USABAYSIDE is entirely focused on creating a product worth purchasing. Being that they are forced to compete with sweatshop laborers and businesses that utilize illicit and dangerous practices they have to know that their product is up to the competitions level. Typically, clothing not made in the US is of poor quality. This is especially noticeable in the sweatshops. The reason is simple, when margins are your only goal you sacrifice on your quality.
